Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks Elementary School prepares all students, regardless of background, with academic knowledge and study skills to perform on or above grade level and who are able to compete in our global society.

VISION STATEMENT

Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks Elementary School is a premiere, multicultural institution where a team of teachers, parents and community members inspire all students to achieve success and open their minds to the endless opportunities for learning.

PHILOSOPHY

We believe that emphasis should be placed on the growth and development of the “whole” child – physical, mental, emotional, and social.

The school should provide a variety of types of learning experiences, with pupil-centered activities that will result in desirable character and personality traits, general and specific knowledge, development of skills, and opportunities for evolvement of creative abilities. Subject matter should be used as a tool in carrying out these objectives.

The social environment of the student, the community, and the “changing world” in which they live should help determine the curriculum.
