| Welcome to the 2007-2008 academic year! This promises to be a year full of excitement, learning, and discoveries. One of PTA's main goals during this year is to increase communication with parents through email, monthly calendar of events, and expand the use of VABHOE's PTA web page in our school's website. | |

As you fill out your PTA membership form, let us know if you would like to receive email notification of school activities and events. As most parents work, it is a reality that we have too many commitments and meetings to attend but our priority as parents is to stay in touch and involved in our children's education. One way to help your child is to join PTA. As a member of PTA, you are joining National PTA, a strong advocating group in children's issues. National PTA is our voice in Washington, and Florida PTA is our voice in Tallahassee in all legislative issues affecting our children. Dade County PTA represents us in front of the school board. By just joining our school's PTA, you have gained representation at many other levels beyond the wall of VABHOE.

| What's PTA doing for VABHOE? PTA works very closely with teachers and staff to support their efforts in enhancing our children's experiences in education. For the last seven years, funds raised by PTA have purchased computers for all classrooms and two wireless portable labs that are available for full classes to do research online. At this moment all classrooms have internet access and our teachers are continuously receiving training in the incorporation of technology in their curriculum. | |

| Since the 2005 school year, the music program has been revolutionized! PTA funds raised in past years have helped to purchase electronic keyboards that have allowed an individualized learning program for each child in second through fifth grade. Many different studies have shown that children who study music, specifically piano, score higher on standardized tests! Also PTA funds have helped redecorate the Media Center to make it more child-oriented, user-friendly, and cozy. | |

| Our school needs volunteers for many different areas. One area in great need of help is the clinic. Caring parents and grandparents with a couple of hours to spare could comfort a child that doesn't feel well. In the PTA membership form, you will find a description of all the areas in which you can help. Please take the time to fill out the forms and become an active member of our school. | |
